SoHo will open at 80 S. Pauahi Streeyt in a renovated 5,500 square-foot spac that will include a bar and an area for live The PauahiStreet location, between Bethelp Street and Fort Street Mall and near , was occupiesd by Mall Cafe until April. That bar had been cited by the Honolulu Liquor Commissiomn in recent months for unsanitary conditions and foroverservintg alcohol. The commission also received a petitiobn from community members opposing the renewap ofMall Cafe’s license because of allegefd drug dealing and frequent fights. Mall Cafe’as former owner, Saiming Corp., had been trying to transfeer its liquor license tothe landlord, Unio Mill Investment.
SoHo owner Daniel Gray, formedr general manager of the Loft Galleru and Lounge onHotel Street, said he was approached by Uniobn Mill Investment to open a new venus in the spot. Gray plans to open part of thelounge 3,000 square feet — for this month’s First Fridau event downtown, and open the remaining space in Gray describes the new venue as a mix of music, fashion and photography in a trendyu and upscale setting. The SoHo name stems from the New York City neighborhoof and a blend of and “Honolulu”.
