The proposal, put forward by House and Senat Democrats, would boost the state’s corporate minimun tax from thecurrent $10 level to between for companies earning less than $500,000, and $100,00p for companies earning more than $250 “The $10 Oregon corporats minimum tax has become a source of public scrutinyt and controversy,” wrote Steve Holwerda, the group'sw chair, in a news release.
“We agre that the minimum tax shouldbe adjusted, but believe the changees must be modest and reasonable as the minimum taxes all whether they are profitable or Holwerda, chief operating officer of Portland’s Ferguson Wellman Capitakl Management, added that the proposal “wouldd be a major disincentive to operating a business in Orego n and is particularly harmful to businesses that are alreadgy losing money.” Holwerda sent a letter to the group's membersz a day after Democratz have revised a May proposapl that would have charged a minimuj between $250 and $60,000.
