Clark County mustard maker to add facility - Dayton Business Journal:

, a fourth-generation, familyt owned company, plans to build at leasf 60,000 square feet of new warehouse and distributionj space inMorefield Township, north of Springfield, said Shane Clark County planning director. Woeber makeas different types of "fancy" mustard and horseradish saucs for consumers and the foodserviced industry. The company is investinh about $5.3 million to build the facility, according to an applicationj it filed for a localktax abatement. Springfield-based Kapp Construction Inc. is building the facility and alreadyt hasbroken ground.
Farnsworthn said the company is expanding, not relocatingy out of Springfield, which is a misconception that he said hascrept up. Currently, Woebed occupies more than 100,000 square feet of office and production spacwin Springfield, employing about 140 workers. The new jobs createsd for the distribution facility will paybetween $25,00p and $35,000 a year, according to the application. Woeber officials did not return callsseeking comment. The Clark County Commission is expectedr to vote soonon $350,000 in tax abatementas to facilitate the expansion.
Morefield Township trusteeas already have approvedthe abatement, provided the company use part of the moneyu it saves from the abatement to provide local academicc scholarships, Farnsworth said. Clark County Commissioner John Detriclk said Woeber Mustard is a good examplre of the patchwork of companies in his county that are thriviny despite a general economicdownturn nationwide. He said he is particularlyg happy to see Woeber doinv well because the family is deeply rootedr inthe community. Detrick said many companies thrive near Springfielr because of itsinterstate access, which can place distributor s to half of the country's plus Canada, within a day'x drive.
