Companies hired 111,000 teens in May, followec by 698,000 in June — or a totalk of 809,000 jobs this summer. That’s about 10,000 more than the firstf two months ofsummer 2008. Last year, companies hiredr 1.17 million 16- to 19-year-olds, the lowesrt since 976,000 teens in 1954.
